We have been learning to write a simple set of instructions. We made Jam sandwiches and thought about the steps we needed to take to make an edible sandwich. We also practised spreading and cutting skills as well as considering the importance of hygiene when preparing food.
Butterfly release day...... We have been amazed watching the transformation from caterpillar to butterfly and we have learnt lots about the lifecycle. Unfortunately the sun wasn’t shining but we had to release the butterflies. We released them close to the trees and bushes so they had somewhere to land if they became tired. It was fascinating watching them warm up their wings ready to take their first flight.
We thoroughly enjoyed wearing our party clothes to school after Eid Mubarak had taken place. Many of families had a wonderful day celebrating and the children enjoyed sharing how they celebrated with their friends.
This week we have been focusing on finding one more and one less. To help us find the answer we have looking a range of different representations of number and using a range of tools to help us including cubes, Numicon, counting objects and number lines.
We have been reading the story ‘Jasper’s Beanstalk’ and learning the process of planting a seed alongside the days of the week. We then moved on to planting our own sunflower seeds and have been writing instructions to let others know what to do. Take a look at us planting our sunflower seeds. We have been watching the life cycle of a butterfly take place over the last few weeks and we now have 9 butterflies in class. The children were lucky enough to watch one of the butterflies emerge. We have given them their sugar water and some fresh fruit to help them build up strength before we release them in a couple of days. More photos to follow. The children have enjoyed watching them transform, emerge and flutter in their butterfly house. Take a look at us observing them below, all the children were brave and held a butterfly.
