We have been reading the story ‘Jasper’s Beanstalk’ and learning the process of planting a seed alongside the days of the week. We then moved on to planting our own sunflower seeds and have been writing instructions to let others know what to do. Take a look at us planting our sunflower seeds. More photos to follow as they begin to shoot and grow.

Butterflies!
We have been watching the life cycle of a butterfly take place over the last few weeks and we now have 9 butterflies in class. The children were lucky enough to watch one of the butterflies emerge. We have given them their sugar water and some fresh fruit to help them build up strength before we release them in a couple of days. More photos to follow. The children have enjoyed watching them transform, emerge and flutter in their butterfly house. Take a look at us observing them below, all the children were brave and held a butterfly.
Potato update
We have been looking after our potatoes really well and they are growing fast. We have now topped up the compost and are measuring how tall the shoots are in each group, comparing these. The children have really enjoyed taking care of the plants and are looking forward to cooking these soon.

Grow your own potatoes
We are taking part in the 'grow your own potatoes' project. We received a batch of seed potatoes and will be chitting, planting, growing and harvesting our own batch of potatoes. Once harvested, we will count them to see how many we have and then the children will get to cook and taste potatoes they have grown. Take a look at us planting them below. More photos to follow as they begin to grow.
