Initial sounds

 Now that we have moved on to phase 3 sounds we have been checking our knowledge of phase initial sounds. Using the sound pots we had to find the correct objects to match our pots.

Fossils

 We have been learning about the different types of dinosaurs and what they liked to eat. We have also been learning about the history of dinosaurs and looking at fossils. Fossils were very popular so we decided to make our own salt dough fossils. Fossil pictures to follow.

Dinosaurs

 Our new topic this term is ‘dinosaurs’. We will be linking the topic to all areas of learning and enjoying a range of planning and cooking activities. Take a look at our new role play area ‘a museum’ and others activities we are enjoying.

Christmas trees

 This week in cooking we have been making edible Christmas trees. We enjoyed making the icing and spreading this on our cones. We then designed our trees with sprinkles and finally enjoyed eating them. 

Fruit exploration

 Last week we enjoyed exploring a range of fruit. We learnt fruit names and looked inside of them to see how they are different. We used our touch sense to see how they felt and we were really surprised at how much juice came out of the watermelon. We also enjoyed popping the pomegranate seeds as they squirted everywhere. Fruit cocktails, soups and other food options were created. We also practised our cutting skills and found some fruits harder than others. Take a look at our exploration below…
