Maths - Sorting

In Maths this week we have been sorting a range of objects by colour. The children are very confident with their colour names and enjoyed sorting these. We used tweezers to grab the objects we needed to support our fine motor control.

Hedgehog Art

Last week we went on a wet leaf hunt in the school grounds. Over the weekend the leaves dried and went crispy to help us create spiky hedgehogs. Take a look at our art in progress below.

Flutter by Learning

Today we had a visit from ‘Flutter by Learning’. The first half of the session was an interactive PowerPoint presentation about butterflies, moths and caterpillars. In the second part we spent time looking at live specimens comparing patterns, shapes and size. We had to use our whisper voices so we didn’t disturb the sleeping moths.

Science Area Exploration

 Today we explored the science area of our school. This was our first time and we had lots of fun. We took a look at the pond an thought about what animals would be in there and in the bug house. 

Exploring the playground

 Today, reception got the opportunity to explore the large play area as they will be joint in with lunchtime play very soon. The children enjoyed trying out the equipment and rolling down the hills. We had a lovely sunny afternoon outdoors.

Starting school

 We have had such a lovely week with the new reception children. They have been exploring the reception area and having lots fun. Take a look at all the things we have been up too. We have been so impressed with how well the children have come into school all by themselves and settled in school life. They are great at following routines and have made friends with others.
