What is Coronavirus?

 Are your children asking lots of questions about the Coronavirus? Why not take a look at Dr Ranj's video and share it with them. Dr. Ranj is a NHS doctor, TV presenter, Sunday Times best-selling author, columnist and charity ambassador. Dr Ranj explains the coronavirus to Jobi. Home Learning 4th January 2021

Dear Reception Parents,

Happy New Year, I hope you had a lovely break at home with your families. We hope you and the children are well and are keeping safe

Please collect a home learning pack from he school office, we will text you when this is ready to collect. We will also post home learning activities/websites here for as long as is required. 

During this time with the children, we would advise keeping to a schedule or routine that best suits everyone in your family. Simply adjusting their usual weekend routines to include a few short sessions of learning time will help to keep them engaged with learning at home. It is also important to include time away from screens, so please do build in activity breaks.

Parents, if you are struggling to find a way to explain to your child what is currently happening in the world, please take a look at this story and see if you think it is suitable to share with your child/children.

I feel that it gives a very simple, clear message and may help our children understand a little bit more during this unprecedented time.

CVC Words

We have been working hard to apply our phonic knowledge to create jigsaw CVC words. Children have been showing their understanding of segmenting and blending once their jigsaw word was complete.

Library Visit

 Last week, we took our very fist visit to our school library. We enjoyed exploring the books and looking at a range of genres. We got to share books quietly with our friends and had a great time. Take a look at us reading....

We even spotted some sight words that we had learnt in class.

2D Shapes

Last week our Maths focus was 2D shapes. We have been learning 2D shapes names and properties. We have been hunting for shapes in our environment, feeling shapes to guess what they are with our eyes closed and painting with shapes. Take a look at our learning...

Black History Week

This week we have been celebrating 'Black History Week'. We have looked at some key icons in black history including Rosa Parks and then we spent time looking at our immediate families. Some children talked to their families about the history within their own families and then we created family trees. Take a look at our work.....
