Butterfly release
We were very excited to watch the life cycle of a butterfly happen right in our classroom. The children watched the caterpillars eat there way through all their food and increase in size. We then got to observe them build their cocoons and we waited until they finally came out from their homes and practised flying. Release day was so much fun and a couple of children got to hold a butterfly before they fluttered away.
Potatoes update:
Our potatoes suddenly bloomed with all the heat and we finally got the opportunity to harvest them and cook with them in a range of ways. We also learnt about the potato life cycle. We really enjoyed eating our potatoes and each group got the opportunity to cook with the potatoes.

Flutter By Workshop
Today we had a visit from ‘Flutter By’ who ran a butterfly and moth workshop for us. We had lots of fun learning about the differences between butterflies and moths and got to look at some too. We even got to see a chrysalis and looked at a butterfly information card to see which butterflies we have spotted in our school grounds.

Potatoes
We are taking part in the potato project and have recently planted our potato seeds. We enjoyed following the instructions carefully to ensure the potato seeds grow. Once we harvest them we look at them and then cook them in a range of ways. Watch this space for updates.
